Community garden
Growing with gratitude.
The garden started small in a backyard. Community growers shared extra produce. Then the Oak Lawn Park District helped Almost Home move into a larger community garden space, and Home Depot in Chicago Ridge donated more than 70 fruit and vegetable plants.
The result is more than produce. It is another example of a simple idea growing because people and organizations kept adding what they could.
At Almost Home, the work usually looks like this: notice the need, tell the community, and see who raises a hand.
