Last night’s #StoneSoupKitchen

…I was able to smell this food as soon as I entered the church yesterday.

The Howe family has a meat-smoking pro as Dad, and the food was such a hit; I heard it was Sarah’s hubby Adrian’s favorite #SSK meal!!

And people were raving about the homemade peach cobbler. I mean, look at it! The picture looks edible.

I showed up for SSK with 2 new chalk signs in tow because as we have new friends coming each week, we needed some directional help since we’re downstairs and people don’t always know where to go.

I stayed long enough to decorate the signs and then my 55 hour work-week caught up with me and Sarah and Joi sent me home to eat and rest.

We had 31 guests, one of those was new. I bet our new signs helped them .

Annnnd as our Sarah mentioned last night, we were able to put 9 friends in hotel rooms for two nights!! How amazing is that?!

We even had some blankets left over from our donation the other week.

Even if I was only there for 45 mins, I can see and feel the impact of what we’ve done here. Our friends look forward to this. There was laughter echoing through the basement everytime I came down the stairs. I know for some people, this is where they come to feel appreciated, heard, and valued. We are as excited to see our guests each week as they are to be there.

Some people don’t have that experience outside of our SSK service.

Next week, #ComeToOurTable #ThereIsAlwaysRoomForMore

#AlmostHomeChicago

#BecauseEveryoneNeedsHelpSometimes #Delicious

Joi and I will be there!

Love and Gratitude,

Mel
