Stone Soup Kitchen
When volunteers bring lunches to give out to our #SSK guests, it warms my heart.
When they write love notes to our friends on the lunch bags, my heart is so full it could burst.
Do you know this tradition began without us even asking groups to do this? How special is that??
The Smykowski family came together to serve yummy chicken fajitas to our 37 guests!
Joi ran the #SSK amazingly, as always. With huge help from our Loretta.
AnnMarie and her daughter Maggie, and our friend Julie organized the heck out of our overflow inventory upstairs so we could continue to identify which items are running low.
Mel (me) ran the Loaves and Fishes closest and served 16 friends. Clean shirts, underwear, and socks were the primary requests on Saturday. And thanks to our recent Amazon wishlists, we were able to give anyone who needed clean clothes, a new set.
As I sat chatting with one of our friends. She needed some advice on some problems she’s having at work. And as I walked her out she said, “It’s hard to go through life with no best friend. I never have anyone to talk to. Thanks for talking to me tonight.”
I’m no longer surprised by how profoundly impactful it is for a person to feel seen and valued. There really is no greater way to love a person.
#Kindness #BecauseEveryoneNeedsHelpSometimes
Sincerely,
Mel
