Stone Soup Kitchen

#StoneSoupKitchen was magnificent.

Today is Armed Forces day, and our Pastor Susan’s husband played some military chants on the piano. He asked Veterans of each branch of service to stand up and be celebrated. We had 4 vets eating at our table tonight, and it was special to celebrate them in that way. It was both beautiful and entertaining to see grown men marching in place and singing loudly and proudly.

Our volunteer group had a conflict for tonight, so a supporter swooped in and ordered $500 in Potbelly’s for our guests. When I tell you people loved the sandwiches, Mac and cheese and chips, I am definitely understating.

And last but not least, our Loretta made 50 brown bag lunches of pb&j sandwiches, fruit and chips for guests to take home.

We served 35 guests and 4 of those faces were new, which is always exciting for us.

If you would like to join us for dinner next Saturday, let us know. We’ll save a seat for ya.

With gratitude,

Mel
