Our food team called in sick. That's ok, these things happen.
Despite the nasty weather, we had 18 guests at our Stone Soup Kitchen last night!
It was a great time, and it started with a few obstacles:
Our food team called in sick. That's ok, these things happen.
Plan B: Order a few trays from our favorite Mexican restaurant.
They were closed for the holiday.
Plan C: Call Mel in a panic. They graciously offered to go shopping and buy what they needed to cook chicken fajitas and Spanish rice.
Thank goodness my sweet friend Joi had asked the day before if we needed any additional helpers.
And then poor Mary stopped by to drop off a few donations and I had her quick grab a mask and gloves to start serving food. Not what she had in mind for her evening, but her timing and helping hands were just what was needed.
We will be open every Saturday evening for at least the next two months, I will be asking the church to extend for the remainder of 2022.
My goal is to also open an additional day during the week, so stay tuned for more details.
Please help spread the word about next week, all are welcome and wanted.
Come to the table.
